Laurence E. "Larry" Voss
Laurence (“Larry”) Edward Voss was born to George and Constance (Kucheman)Voss on October 27, 1943 in Stamford, Connecticut. He was the younger of two siblings and shared a close bond with his sister, Victoria (Robert Johnson). The Voss family moved to Station Lane in Grandview, NY in 1951.

Larry attended Nyack schools, Morristown Academy, the University of Iowa, and Hunter College. He graduated from New York Law School in 1976. During law school, Larry was a caseworker at the Child Welfare Agency of New York City. After passing the New York State Bar, he joined the Bronx division of the Legal Aid Society where he proudly served as a public defense attorney for nearly 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed golf and was an avid baseball lover, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Yankees being his favorite teams. Larry served for many years as an umpire and board member of the Rockland County Umpires’ Association. Some of his favorite pastimes included walks around Rockland Lake, meals at the Cornerstone Restaurant, and completing the New York Times crossword puzzles. He was always willing to provide counsel to those who sought his advice.

Larry married Britta Wigren in 1966 and had 2 sons, Benjamin (Pebo Huber) and David (Kristine Bauer). Larry’s only daughter, Rachel, was born on his birthday in 1977 from his union with Cladis Hannah. From 1985 until the present, Larry shared a home with Terry Tillinghast and her son, Adam Schneider (Jillian Maeve). Larry’s beloved grandchildren are Marlowe (Petr Tomkevich), Penelope Myles, Lauren, Benjamin, Kieran Lew Schneider and Voss. He was getting to know his great grandchildren Agafya, Artyom and Galina Tomkevich. He was a favorite uncle to Lisa Johnson and Suzanne (Johnson) Manser.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister and son (Benjamin). His family and friends are all grateful for the love, laughter, sage advice, and fond memories he has given. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
