Obituary for Richard D. Tyner Sr.

Richard D. Tyner Sr.
In Fond Remembrance of Richard D. Tyner Sr. , a beacon of light born on February 16, 1962 and raised
in Spring Valley New York to the late Eleanor Sullivan Mclean and Louis Tyner. He gracefully embraced
the Lord's call on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York.
Richard's journey unfolded at Ramapo Senior High School, where he not only attended but graduated
with pride. For 18 remarkable years, he served at Rockland Children's Psychiatric Hospital as a
Transportation Coordinator, a role that garnered him the esteemed Commemoration Multicultural
Awareness Committee Humanitarian Award in January 2002.
A steadfast companion on the path of life, Richard shared 34 years of marriage with Missionary Melanie
Tyner. He was not just a beloved and devoted deacon,he was also a husband, father, stepfather, uncle,
spiritual big brother, friend, and mentor. His unwavering love and commitment extended to every role he
embraced.
Richard found immense joy in family gatherings, cherishing moments spent with those he held dear. A
true soldier for the Lord, he carried a remarkable sense of humor. If you ever did something amusing or
unconventional, his deep voice would resonate, accompanied by a distinctive look, as he would
affectionately say, "Something is wrong with you," followed by a heartfelt chuckle.
His legacy is eternally imprinted on the hearts of his surviving loved ones: his cherished wife Melanie
Tyner, two children, Jasmine Denise Tyner, Richard Tyner II, and stepson Damian Lavar Brown. The
echoes of his memory reverberate through the halls of siblings: Eunice Fitts Sullivan, Virginia Sullivan,
Annie Glanton, Darryl Sullivan, George Tyner, Louis Tyner, Otis Tyner and late sibling Eugene Tyner.
His extended family includes sisters-in-law Carol Charles, Amanda Adams and late sister In-law
Prothetess Belinda D. Whatley and Brother In-law Lamont Samuel and a multitude of nieces, nephews,
cousins, saints, and friends who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
In honoring Richard D. Tyner’s memory, we embrace the laughter he shared, the love he radiated, and
the enduring impact of a life well-lived. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine, and may
his legacy continue to inspire and comfort all who were privileged to know him.
