Obituary for Sheila M. Savage

Sheila M. Savage
Sheila Marie Savage, age 77, went Home to be with our Lord on December 29th, 2023. Sheila was born on April 7th, 1946 to the late Leroy and Ruth Swann Savage. She attended grade school in the South Orangetown School District, where she excelled in many academic areas. Sheila graduated from Tappan Zee Highschool in Orangeburg, New York, where she was as popular, as she was beautiful, both in heart and soul. She excelled in computer skills and business management, which was a skill set that followed her to her employment with IBM Corporation where she was an Administrative Assistant, further broadening her impeccable computer skills.
Sheila was an excellent cook and hostess, a fact not known by many. Her stuffed mushrooms were out of this world. Everyone looked forward to her preparing this delicious dish at her many dinner parties. She also made the most wonderful roasted brussel sprouts, a favorite at Thanksgiving. Aunt She-she was adored by her nephews, nieces, and grands, who always looked forward to traveling to her house for her cooking during the holidays. She was also known for her delicious assorted Christmas cookies, which she baked every year. So many yummy memories!
In her later years, Sheila’s progressive muscle disorder did not hinder her from continuing to enjoy life to the fullest. She participated in rowing competitions, even winning first place with her team. Practicing on Rockland Lake brought such joy to her. She was an avid rock climber and cyclist as well, both activities bringing happiness and a sense of accomplishment to her world. There were so many physical activities that Sheila participated in over the years; nothing stopped her from pursuing what she wanted to do. These activities made her feel so happy and fulfilled, and very proud in terms of what she was able to accomplish. There were no limits as far as she was concerned.
Sheila is survived and mourned by her sibling, Shaheeda Muhammad (Shirley Ann) of Georgia, her brother-in-law, Barry Sweigart of Colorado. She will be mourned by her nieces and nephews, Troy (New York), Brandon (New York), Jeff (Nevada), Ian (New York), Bryant (New York), Sharon (Colorado) and Brooke (New York), as well as all of their beautiful and awesome children, some of whom lovingly called her “Grandma”. Sheila’s home going also leaves a host of cousins and extended relatives that will mourn her. She is preceded in death by her father Leroy Savage, her mother Ruth Swann Savage, as well as her siblings, Doreen, Monica, Lydia, and Keith. She had a plethora of friends, schoolmates, acquaintances, and medical personnel whose life she impacted, and who impacted her throughout her lifetime. Sheila will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
