Obituary for Philip Michael Affrunti

Philip Michael Affrunti passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Phil was born on January 19, 1949, in Ventimiglia di Sicilia, a picturesque town in Sicily to Giuseppe and Filippa Affrunti. He is predeceased by the love of his life Vicky Affrunti who passed away in 2019 after a long battle with cancer; a battle that he supported her through with unwavering strength and commitment for 6 years. They have two beloved children; Megan and her husband David and their children Max Victor and Sebastian Anthony, and Tori and her husband Kyle and their child Landon Philip. He is survived by his loving brother Vincent Affrunti and predeceased by his sister Rosa Zeolla. He has many sister-in laws, brother-in laws, nieces and nephews whom he loved beyond measure.

Phil was a military veteran who came to the United States as a young boy with his family. He spent his life doing what he loved - enjoying time with his family and friends, and working as a carpenter. He loved to build and fix things with his hands and took so much pride in his work. One of the many things about him that was so unique was that he never complained about going to work - even when he worked outside during the coldest winters and hottest summers. He loved helping others, meeting people, and telling interesting stories about his childhood in Sicily and life in New York. His work ethic and infinite love and dedication to his family, friends and customers were cornerstones of who he was as a man.

He had a beautiful smile and presence that lit up every room he entered. He was calm, gentle and optimistic - an incredible person who will be missed dearly. He was loved and appreciated by so many.

Visitation will be at the Hannemann’s Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack, NY on Tuesday, November 21 from 4-8 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 82 Lake Road West, Congers, NY on Wednesday, November 22 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Rockland County Veterans Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley NY.
