Obituary for Norberto R. Saez Rodriguez
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Norberto R. Saez, our loving an devoted father, grandfather and friend to all whose lives he touched, on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2023. He left us while sleeping peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Norberto was born on September 15, 1927 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico to his father, the late Esteban Saez and mother, the late Sofia Rodriguez. He was raised with his 7 siblings, 5 sisters (Marieantonia, Matilde, Almavina, Estabania and Irene) and two brothers (Philomeno and Abraham). He entered the army at the age of 23 during the Korean War conflict and was discharge 1952 and later settled in New York and became an electrical engineer. There, he married and raised his three children (Norberto, Jr. , Sandra and Bernice) in New York. He later joined Verizon (NYNEX) and after retiring in 1991 he returned to Yauco, Puerto Rico to enjoy retirement life.
After falling ill, he returned to New York in 2014 and made his residence in New City, Rockland County. There he joined the Clarkstown Senior Center, enjoying the company of its many members. Later, he moved to the Tappanzee Manor assisted living in Nyack, where he met with the caring staff and residents, living out his golden years. He reached the amazing age of 96 years old, just being shy of his 100 year goal.
Norberto is survived by his youngest sister Irene, his son, Norberto Saez Jr; daughters Sandra Ramirez and Bernice Culpepper; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
