Obituary for Roberta Sewer

Roberta Sewer, age 78 passed away on 10/24/2023 in Nyack Hospital. Roberta was born on January 15, 1945 in NYC to Dorothy Harris. Bert, who she was also affectionately known as, graduated from Spring Valley HS in 1964. After graduation, she began her career with the State of NY working for Rockland Psychiatric Center which lasted 40+ years. While at this facility she was trained in sign language which aided her to better communicate with the population she worked with. After retiring from RPC, she was employed by the Mental Health Association's of Rockland County, where Roberta was instrumental in opening up the group home.

Roberta always had a need to help people. If someone was starting out with their first apartment and or during holidays, she would show up with items to get them started and never asking for anything in return. Her bright light and big heart left us too soon, however we will remember her warm love and generosity. She will be missed greatly by her family and all those she impacted throughout her life.

Roberta is survived by her mother Dorothy Harris of Monsey, NY. Her brother Speed Harris and wife Diana of Highland Falls, NY. Niece Chanita Harris-Fondacaro; great nieces Joey Rial and Charlie Rae of Long Beach, CA. Nephews Tyler Harris of Highland Falls, NY and Kyle Harris of Long Beach, CA and a host of cousins, god children and friends.

Visitation will be held at Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, NY on 11/02/2023. Viewing will be held at 10a and Home Going service at 11am.

Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
