May 20th, 1933 – September 5th, 2020

Calvin E. Evans (Bopcity) of Nyack, NY, passed away on September 5th, 2020. He was born on May 20th, 1933 to William Evans Sr. and Henrietta Eliott Evans at Nyack Hospital, Nyack NY.
Calvin lived his childhood life growing up in Piermont. He later moved to Nyack. After graduating Nyack High School, he joined the Air Force which he was proud to serve his country. He worked for the Village of Nyack as an engineer for 20 years. He was known by all his family and friends as “Bopcity”. He enjoyed jazz, dancing, cooking, fishing, playing video games with his grandsons and was a great story teller he would have everyone laughing.
He had a passion for serving his community, he was a member of the Central Nyack Fire Department, and wore his uniform proud, a member of the Nyack Elks Club. He was a member of St. Charles church in Piermont for many years. Most of all his greatest joy came from his family.
Calvin was blessed with the love of his life Sarah Haynes Evans, married 50 years, who predeceased him in 2012. Calvin was predeceased by his brother William Evans Jr. and his sister Bernice Biddings.
He leaves behind 3 beautiful children, his sons Monroe Perkins (Helen), Calvin Evans Jr. (Myrlande), and his daughter Deborah Evans (Ricky). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, he was the loving Poppy to Marie, Jude, Andrew, Mars and Marco. He had 4 great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild due in November. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will truly be missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10th from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Hannemann’s Funeral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY. Following at 11:00AM a service will be held at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, Congers, N.Y. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory Calvin Evans to charity of one’s choice or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
